Executive Team

Matthew joined Stockland in 1999 and was appointed Managing Director in October 2000. He has an extensive background in commercial, retail, industrial and residential property investment and development. He began his career in the United Kingdom as a chartered accountant and moved to Australia in 1987 with Price Waterhouse. He was National President of the Property Council of Australia from 2003 until 2005, and is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute.

Hugh was appointed to the Board as Finance Director on 1 July 2004, having been Chief Financial Officer since his commencement at Stockland on 16 February 2004. Hugh is a Chartered Accountant and has held a number of senior financial and general management roles in Australian companies.

Denis joined Stockland in 2000. He has more than 15 years experience in all aspects of urban development including the delivery of large-scale urban communities, built form housing and mixed use developments. He has overseen the creation and delivery of a number of major development projects and has extensive experience in delivering joint venture partnerships with both the private and public sectors throughout Australia.

Johanna joined Stockland in 2001. She has more than 18 years experience in the property and finance industries, working in a variety of research roles in real estate and financial markets. Prior to joining Stockland, Johanna was a member of a consistently top rated LPT research team at an international investment bank.

Ken became Managing Director of Stockland UK in 2008. Prior to that Ken was Joint Managing Director of Stockland Halladale after Stockland acquired the business in 2007. Ken joined the Board of Halladale in 1998 as Property Director. Ken is a Chartered Surveyor with more than 25 years experience in UK commercial property. His career in property spans both public and private sectors.

Rilla commenced as Stockland’s EGM Human Resources in 2004 having worked at senior levels of Human Resources for the past 15 years, with Westpac, AMP and ANZ. Rilla brings a wealth of experience in every aspect of Human Resources and has led many organisational changes including large mergers. Rilla also has broad business experience in sales, customer service, consulting, commercial lending and internal communications.

David joined Stockland in 2007. He has extensive experience in strategy development across a wide range of industries, having spent 12 years with The Boston Consulting Group, where he was a Vice President and Director. Prior to his time in consulting, David held line management positions in the General Aviation industry for nine years. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Syd) and an MBA (AGSM).

John joined Stockland in 2006. Prior to joining Stockland, John was Chief Operating Officer of Westfield in the United States. He has over 20 years experience in the shopping centre industry, in senior executive positions both in Australia and internationally.
