Stockland's community investment program has been developed by our employees and is an important way for us to support their interests, as well as contribute to local communities.

In 2011 over 70% of all Stockland employees volunteered their time and over 9,700 hours were spent contributing to local communities.

Workplace giving program
Workplace giving is a simple, convenient and highly effective way to support a charity that employees are passionate about.

At Stockland employees can donate a small amount of pre-tax income to a charity of their choice through our workplace giving program. Stockland then dollar matches each contribution (up to $5,000 per annum).

Student mentoring
Stockland is a proud partner of the Australian Business & Community Network (ABCN), a partnership of national business leaders and companies who participate in student mentoring and coaching programs.

The ABCN focus on education and improving opportunities for students from disadvantaged schools. Students are mentored on topics including effective communication, budgeting, career choices, literacy skills and building confidence.

Some of the programs offered by the ABCN include:

    1. Spark - Reading and Literacy Support
Spark is a fantastic program that pairs corporate volunteers with primary school aged students to help them improve their reading skills.

    2. GOALs - Growing Opportunities & Learning Skills
GOALs aims to widen the life choices for Year 9 students considered to be at high risk of disengagement from school.

   3. Partners in Learning
This program pairs Principals and senior teachers with CEOs and executives to share experiences and leadership challenges.

Personal volunteering
Stockland employees are entitled to take two days per year to volunteer with a charity of their choice.

In the past our employees have donated their time to a range of exciting and diverse charities including selling daffodils on Daffodil Day for the Cancer Council, packing Christmas hampers for the Smith Family and looking after animals at the RSPCA.

Team volunteering
Stockland also provides opportunities for employees to participate in team volunteering days. This could be anything from serving the lunchtime meal at a homeless shelter to planting native trees in a wildlife corridor.

At Stockland we encourage all business units to take a team volunteering day during the year. Not only is this an opportunity to provide much need support to a local charity, it can also prove to be a wonderful team building exercise for all involved.
