The delivery of the new Sunshine Coast hospital and town centre will bring thousands of new workers to the Kawana area over the next five years. Sunshine Coast Daily reports "Get ready for the resources boom"

The Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Kawana Town Centre will change the shape of the Sunshine Coast and will herald the start of the region's resources boom.

Queensland Health Minister, Geoff Wilson, UDIA Sunshine Coast President, Frazer Dean, and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council's CEO, John Knaggs, spoke at the UDIA's business seminar last week urging local businesses to take advantage of the largest health infrastructure project in the southern hemisphere and build upon the $3.5 billion in business opportunities that will be created in the region over the next six years.

Birtinya's new Island Yoga classes

Yin Health are bringing their yoga classes to Birtinya! Classes will run for 12 weeks starting on Saturday 24 September.

Time: 7:30 - 8:30am

Cost: $60 for 12 weeks ($5 per session)

Where: Outside the Birtinya Sales & Information Centre, Regatta Boulevard, Birtinya Island

Birtinya Healthy Living demo

Birtinya's Healthy Living Day

Hundred's of people hit the shores of Lake Kawana on Sunday 25th September and enjoyed Birtinya's first Healthy Living Day. There were lots of demonstrations, a mini expo, free massages, food and drink as well as an awesome Rock Climbing Wall which was very popular. Hot 91 broadcast live from the event and provided the tunes for Ezyfit and Kelly Sports who conducted loads of sporting and fitness demonstrations.

New hospital development signals a new era for Kawana

Over $1 million a day will be spent on development and infrastructure projects in Kawana over the next five years.

The new hospital at Kawana will be the largest hospital project in Australia and will represent a quarter of the Coast's $9 billion annual economy.

Coupled with this, over 2,200 new residences and over 173,000 square metres of mixed use facilities, parks and the new Kawana town centre will be created to complement the Coast's newest community.

Work has started on the new Sunshine Coast Hospital at Birtinya!

The dirt has finally been turned on the new Sunshine Coast hospital site, signalling the start of a project that is expected to deliver over 11,000 jobs to the Sunshine Coast in the next five years.

Work on the 20 hectare greenfield site at Birtinya will start with the construction of the University Hospital and will initially generate over 250 construction jobs for the region. Over 700 new medical staff and health care professionals including oncologists, urologists, pathologists and ENT specialists will be employed at the hospital when it opens in 2013.

Final Kawana Waters vision set to take shape

Stockland has embarked on the next stage of its vision to create a new genuine heart for Kawana Waters with a process of key community consultations about to begin.

More than 100 hectares of land in the centre of Kawana is set to be transformed into a world-class destination for the Sunshine Coast over coming years.

It will include the Birtinya residential community, the proposed Kawana Town Centre, the Bokarina Beach residential and tourism hub, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and medical precinct and a new transport and commercial district. Read more....

Sunshine Coast Regional Council recently announced details around the Kawana Community Development Strategy.

In particular, their vision for Kawana Town Centre which will bring more than 5000 jobs and a new retail and tourist hub.

Birtinya launches Living Display Centre with Kate Ceberano

On Saturday, 12th March Birtinya launched its new 24 home Living Display Centre, with Kate Ceberano staring as the headline act.  

The much-loved Australian entertainer, performed on stage to a crowd of 3000, some coming  from as far as Brisbane just to see her perform.  

The free family fun event started with a live radio broadcast that ran from 9am to 12pm with a gourmet barbeque and a range of children's entertainment, including a jumping castle, face painting, a fire twirler, pony rides and a petting zoo.  

The main event then kicked off at 5pm with food stalls, a live cooking demonstration by Kim McCosker from '4 Ingredients', local entertainers and crowds of people wandering though the display homes who all kept their doors open all night.   

Kate Ceberano then took to the stage from 6.30pm and performed many of her greatest hits, including Pash and Bedroom Eyes. 

It was a fantastic night with crowds of people dancing and the festivities were finished in spectacular fashion with a wonderful fireworks display.

Grand Opening of the Kawana Waters Markets last weekend was a huge success. Get in early from 7am for some fresh local produce then grab a coffee and browse the unique and beautiful art and craft stalls. 

The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce along with renowned food identity Shane Stanley have come together to create The Markets at Kawana Waters combining all the quality of the Farmers Markets at Noosa along with the best locally made art and craft.

Kawana Waters Farmers and Artisans Markets located at the southern end of Sportsmans Parade every Saturday from 7am to 12 midday
