Brightwater State School now open

Stockland is excited to announce that the new Brightwater State School is now open.

The school received a high number of enrolments for the new state-of-the-art education facility which caters for students entering Prep to Year 7.

Bella Grace comes to Brightwater

Award-winning Sunshine Coast child care group Bella Grace have opened their latest centre at Brightwater.

The new early learning centre is the group's fourth on the Coast and is located next door to the new Prep to Year 7 Brightwater State School which also opened this year. 

The Brightwater Bella Grace centre caters for all age groups from six-week old babies through to school children. It also offers an after school care service and a kindergarten program delivered by a four-year bachelor qualified teacher.

Brightwater Shopping Centre coming soon

Works are progressing well at the future Brightwater Shopping Centre.  Both the medical centre and tavern are confirmed and other tenancies are currently being finalised.

Due to excessive rains, completion of the centre is anticipated for December 2012.

Brightwater family tavern coming soon

Pratt Property Group has commenced construction on the new lakefront family tavern following approvals it received from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. Together with the development of the new Brightwater Shopping Centre, the combined project value is more than $20 million.

The proposed family tavern will be around 1,200 square metres and feature substantial lakefront alfresco areas. An application for a liquor licence is currently with the State Government.  

At this stage, construction is expected to be complete by late 2012.

Top 5 Brightwater Bike Rides

If you haven't got out and explored Brightwater's location by bike... you are missing out. With lots of flat destinations on both sides of Brightwater, one of the best things about our community is being able to ride almost anywhere.

So it prompted us to publish "Top 5 Brightwater Bike Rides" (download 7MB) which gives you directions to the 5 top locations within an easy ride of Brightwater.

Sunshine Coast Council and Qld Government have also developed an excellent collection of walk and bike maps. The map which connects to Brightwater is the Sunshine Coast South map.

Kawana - The opportunity

Right now, we're building new opportunities on the Sunshine Coast. With construction of the new hospital underway, we're pledging infrastructure investments to support the growth of these health facilities.

Brightwater gathers to discuss their Residents Association

The Brightwater Residents Association is the voice of the community and is taking an active role in the community's ongoing relationship with key stakeholders at the new primary school, child care centre, retail centre and with local councillors and authorities.

Kawana Town Centre coming soon ...

The planned Kawana Town Centre will provide a distinct and genuine heart for Kawana - a retail, business, entertainment, education and transport hub for Brightwater and the surrounding communities.

Sunshine Coast Regional Council recently announced details around the Kawana Community Development Strategy. In particular, their vision for Kawana Town Centre which will bring more than 5000 jobs and a retail and tourist hub.

TransLink bus service to Brightwater

TransLink are now operating a regular bus service to Brightwater, directly linking the community with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Kawana and Caloundra.

Route 607 runs through Brightwater on Brightwater Boulevard and Attenuata Drive at hourly intervals between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday.

Final Kawana Waters vision set to take shape

Stockland has embarked on the next stage of its vision to create a new genuine heart for Kawana Waters with a process of key community consultations about to begin.

More than 100 hectares of land in the centre of Kawana is set to be transformed into a world-class destination for the Sunshine Coast over coming years.

It will include the Birtinya residential community, the proposed Kawana Town Centre, the Bokarina Beach residential and tourism hub, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and medical precinct and a new transport and commercial district. Read more...

$60M budget boost to Kawana University Hospital

A recent article in the Sunshine Coast Daily announced a $60M medical training and research centre will be built alongside the Sunshine Coast's new $2 billion university hospital. This centre, approximately five minutes drive from Brightwater, will have the capacity to train 1300 doctors, nurses and allied health professionals every year to help staff our local hospitals. It makes the Kawana site the biggest health infrastructure project in Australia once work starts in 2013. Read more ...

Visit Kawana Waters markets this weekend

Kawana Waters is buzzing every Saturday with the smell of local fresh fruit and vegetables and other handmade food along with locally produced art and craft.

The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce along with renowned food identity Shane Stanley have come together to create The Markets at Kawana Waters combining all the quality of the Farmers Markets at Noosa along with the best locally made art and craft.

Kawana Waters Farmers and Artisans Markets at the southern end of Sportsmans Parade every Saturday from 7am to 12 midday. Free parking is available onsite.
