Dogs day out - Sunday, 20 May 2012
Pack up your pooch, or just the family, and head to Brightwater on Sunday, 20 May to support RSPCA Queensland.
What: Brightwater Dog Walk supporting RSPCA Queensland
When: Sunday, 20 May, 10am ? 12pm
Where: Brightwater lakeside park, Amberjack Street
Stockland is hosting a dog day out to help raise funds for the animal welfare charity. The 1.1kilometre walk will be a loop around part of the new Brightwater lake, starting and finishing at the lakeside park in Amberjack Street.
There will be several doggy activities in the lakeside park including free dog washing and vet consultations and dog obedience advice.
The Brightwater State School will also be on site doing a sausage sizzle and selling hot coffees.

2000 turn out for the Brightwater Billycart Cup
The very first Brightwater Billycart Cup was a huge success with over 2000 attendees on the day and over 80 race participants.
It was a great day of thrills and spills with great costumes, amazing billycarts and speeding racers!

New business and investment opportunities set to boost the Sunshine Coast's economy
The delivery of the new Sunshine Coast hospital and town centre will bring thousands of new workers to the Kawana area over the next five years. The Brightwater and Birtinya communities are already seeing an increase in the number of medical and construction employees looking to purchase land and relocate to the area. This presents an abundance of opportunities for local businesses and for those who invest in property to get in early and benefit from the future growth of the Kawana region.

Sunshine Coast Daily reports "Get ready for the resources boom"
The Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Kawana Town Centre will change the shape of the Sunshine Coast and will herald the start of the region's resources boom.
Queensland Health Minister, Geoff Wilson, UDIA Sunshine Coast President, Frazer Dean, and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council's CEO, John Knaggs, spoke at the UDIA's business seminar last week urging local businesses to take advantage of the largest health infrastructure project in the southern hemisphere and build upon the $3.5 billion in business opportunities that will be created in the region over the next six years.

New hospital development signals a new era for the Kawana area
Over $1 million a day will be spent on development and infrastructure projects in the Kawana area over the next five years.
The new hospital at Kawana will be the largest hospital project in Australia and will represent a quarter of the Coast's $9 billion annual economy.
Coupled with this, over 173,000 square metres of mixed use facilities, parks and the new Kawana town centre will be created to complement the Coast's newest communities at Brightwater and Birtinya.

Work has started on the new Sunshine Coast Hospital at Kawana
The dirt has finally been turned on the new Sunshine Coast Hospital site, signalling the start of a project that is expected to deliver over 11,000 jobs to the Sunshine Coast in the next five years.
Work on the 20 hectare greenfield site at Kawana, near Birtinya Island, will start with the construction of the University Hospital and will generate over 250 construction jobs for the region. Over 700 new medical staff and health care professionals including oncologists, urologists, pathologists and ENT specialists, will be employed at the hospital when it opens in 2013.

Final Kawana Waters vision set to take shape
Stockland has embarked on the next stage of its vision to create a new genuine heart for Kawana Waters with a process of key community consultations about to begin.
More than 100 hectares of land in the centre of Kawana is set to be transformed into a world-class destination for the Sunshine Coast over coming years.
It will include the Birtinya residential community, the proposed Kawana Town Centre, the Bokarina Beach residential and tourism hub, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and medical precinct and a new transport and commercial district. Read more...
