North Shore Farmers Market - local food - local people
It's official - Townsville will be home to a permanent local farmers market from April next year.
In a major boom for the region's farming industry and consumers, the North Queensland Farmer's Market will operate from a purpose-built facility which will form part of the town square at North Shore. At its peak, up to 200 producers from areas surrounding Townsville, Burdekin, Ingham, Charters Towers and right across North Queensland will sell fresh fruit, vegetables and artisanal products direct to the public each Sunday.
The market will be operated by Shane Stanley, the current director of the popular Noosa Farmer's Market. Mr. Stanley, who will relocate his family to Townsville before Christmas, said the North Shore facility would be one of the best in Australia.
