For most people, protecting the environment is really important. At Parwood, we've included many green design elements to make life better for everyone. Some of them you wouldn't even notice, while others are part of the beautiful landscape.
Water cycle management
Constructed wetland and bio-retention rain gardens help to maintain Parkwood's delicate ecosystems and water quality. The lovely natural streetscapes are also a smart way to deal with stormwater run-off. Instead of kilometres of concrete kerbs and channelling, Parkwood has swales. These channels alongside the roads are planted with vegetation to separate debris and litter from the stormwater.
Vegetation protection
Conservation corridors are an important part of the neighbourhood with natural vegetation surrounding 50% of Parkwood. Together with thousands of established trees, these areas of bushland have been preserved to help protect the local wildlife, birdlife and their habitats.
Open spaces and accessibility
Enhanced by the mature native trees, Parkwood features a network of wide walking paths and cycle ways throughout providing direct access to the local parks and 4-hectare sporting and recreational grounds.
Natural gas
Parkwood has ready availability of natural gas known to produce the least amount of carbon dioxide of all the fossil fuels and reduces the impact of the greenhouse effect.
