Shopping
The new Stockland Highlands Shopping Centre is now open!
Ideally located on the corner of Aitken Boulevard & Grand Boulevard, the new shopping centre features a Woolworths supermarket, exciting speciality stores and a piazza style town square.
Highlanders can also pick up the daily essentials at the brand new Corner Store, located off Waterview Boulevard.

The world-class $16.7 million Hume Global Learning Centre - Craigieburn is also now under construction and scheduled to open early 2012. Featuring a contemporary library, e-play area with public access to internet, a museum space, a dedicated children's story-time area, care facilities, and a learning centre to support learning programs in the area.
Craigieburn Child and Family Centre
Highlands families will have access to a range of early childhood services in one convenient location thanks to the new $6.3 million children?s centre.
Recently opened by the Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, Maxine Morand said the completion of the centre marked an exciting time for local families.?This new integrated centre combines a 60 place kinder, playgroups, maternal and child health and early childhood intervention services, 30 occasional care places and a 60 place childcare service,? Ms Morand said.
The Kinder is open and the Maternal and Child Health Centre is now operating from five consulting rooms, with childcare and allied health services expected to be available soon.
Highlands Project Director, Ben Cantwell said, "Highlands is a carefully planned community designed to ensure residents have access to all of life's essentials such as childcare, schools, shops and recreation facilities right in the heart of their community."
The $6.3m Centre has been funded by Stockland, Hume City Council, State Government (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development) and the Commonwealth Government.
Parks and open spaces
Explore 150 hectares of parklands and open space peppered with playgrounds and picturesque landscaping. Conservation grasslands meander throughout the community featuring cycling and walking paths, rest areas and the Highlands Lake allowing you to keep fit or escape the daily grind with your favourite book.
Malcolm Creek Recreational Parkland, the size of the Royal Botanical Gardens featuring a number of play spaces, will be a destination for residents and community members alike when complete early next year.
Recreation and relaxation
Highlands Lake, our magnificent 4 hectare water feature surrounded by a 1.3km lake perimeter is the perfect spot for recreation and relaxation.
Waterside Cafe, right on the lake, is a hub for catching up with friends for leisurely brunch or grabbing a quick coffee.
Playgrounds to suit a range of ages, from gentle small-scale fun for toddlers to adventure and challenge for older kids including half court basketball are all here to enjoy at Highlands.
Catch a footy at the MCG sized oval at Highgate Recreational Reserve, the pre-season training ground for the Richmond Tigers.
Waterside Café, bringing the café latte to Highlands
Pick up a coffee or stop and enjoy breakfast or lunch by the lake at the Waterside Café.
Owners Mario and Donna enjoy the friendly atmosphere and lake view. "This is a fantastic area," said Mario. "As Highlands Craigieburn is growing every day we see new people in here all the time. And the local residents seem to love our breakfast on the weekends!"
