KidSport funding for families
KidSport will make it possible for Western Australian children to participate in community sport and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances. KidSport will allow eligible youth aged 5-18 years to apply for financial assistance to contribute towards club fees. The fees will go directly to the registered KidSport clubs participating in the project through their participating local government. Visit the KidSport website.
Youth Activity Area on Orchard Avenue officially opens
Armadale's unique Youth Activity Area (YAA) has been in the making for more than a decade, and will be officially opened on Friday 17 February at 3.30pm. The YAA is a state-of-the-art community space and the only of its kind in Western Australia. International designers Convic Designs, in consultation with local young people, have created a space which incorporates features including viewing areas, multimedia screens, seating and an innovative, versatile sculptural steel surface. The space is open to all members of the local and surrounding community.
Active in Armadale 2012
The Active in Armadale booklet outlines many programs and facilities in your local area to get you active. Whether it's a bushwalk in the beautiful reserves, swimming lessons or a game of tennis, there is something for everyone. Switch your thinking! - Rebates for Residents 2012
Wungong Reach residents, as part of City of Armadale are eligible for the 'Switch your thinking-rebates for residents' project. Residents and businesses are eligible for rebates on a wide variety of products including Solar Panels, Energy Meters, Rainwater Tanks, Pool Covers and Insulation Paint. The Rebates for Residents project comes at an ideal time for local residents and businesses given the recent increases to the cost of electricity, gas and water. What's more, these rebates are in addition to any state or federal government rebates that residents may also be eligible for. For more information go to the Switch Your Thinking Website.
Community Safety and Neighbourhood Watch Updates
The WA Police Community Engagement Division has recently launched the new Community Safety website. The site is designed to give the general public information and advice on how improve their safety and security, and be a resource for Local Governments and other agencies for crime prevention and community safety programs and publications.

Looking for funding for a special project?
The City of Armadale's Community Grants Program 2011/2012 can provide up to $1,000 for initiatives that benefit local residents. Not-for-profit organisations such as sporting clubs, school P&Cs, welfare, arts and cultural, children and families, youth, seniors and disability groups servicing residents in the City of Armadale are eligible to apply.

New Kindergarten
Forrestdale Community Kindergarten is now taking registrations for their 3 year old Programme that will begin February 2nd, 2012.
The programme will run on Thursdays during school times with 2 sessions: 9.00am - 11.30am and 12.00pm - 2.30pm. Run by a qualified Early Childhood teacher, the programme will focus on fostering a love of learning in a fun and caring environment. Children must be three years of age by the start of the term. New Community Development Manager for Stockland
Stockland has a new Community Development Manager for WA, Jane Elton.
Jane's focus is to create opportunities for people in the local community to connect and belong, as well as help create vibrant spaces to live, work and play.
She wants to hear from you about what you value in your community and feedback or ideas, such as;
- business opportunities,
- community groups and partnerships,
- environmental and sustainability initiatives,
- activity and leisure opportunities,
- walking, cycling and transport solutions,
- information and communication improvements.
