The residents here made me feel so welcome and involved

Mrs Hartney, Templestowe Village

The idea of downsizing from my family home in Greensborough into a serviced apartment was very frightening at first. I knew I could no longer maintain a large house on my own but at the same time was hesitant about moving into something smaller.

We've become involved in carpet bowls, petanque and line dancing and we make great use of the Community Centre

Mr and Mrs Gleeson, Taylors Hill Village

We've been retired for three years and there was a certain amount of loneliness because we both weren't working anymore. Of course we were very busy for a while after we retired but then all of a sudden we started wondering what we were going to do with all our spare time. We then moved to Taylors Hill Village and that certainly doesn't apply anymore!

It's brand new and we love it

Mr & Mrs Rainsbury, Taylors Hill Village

The reason we chose Taylors Hill is because it's spacious with lots of room between the villas and the streets are wide.  We looked at some other villages and they were pretty cramped.  Our previous home was 42 years old and it needed a lot of work which is why we made the decision to move to Taylors Hill. It's brand new and we love it and we're glad to get away from the maintenance of our old place

Living in the village I find I have more time to do the things I really enjoy doing

Mrs Manley, Templestowe Village

I got to a stage in my life where I realised that a retirement village was something I should consider.  With my husband gone and a large house to look after, I felt I needed more support and the company of others at similar stages in life as me. I was also looking forward to slowing down a little.

It's great knowing we can lock the door behind us and not give it another thought

Mr & Mrs Weir, Fig Tree Village

The Murrumba Downs Shopping Village is only a few minutes down the road.  Talk about everything you need right on your doorstep.  And now we have the new Tavern directly opposite.  We're caravan crazy so we like to get away and head off into the blue yonder without a worry in the world.  It's great knowing we can lock the door behind us and not give it another thought.

Fig Tree has a real close-knit community and plenty of like-minded people

Mr & Mrs Baker, Fig Tree Village

I'm retiring for a second time.  We're a pretty social couple and really enjoy the company of friends.  Fig Tree has a real close-knit community and plenty of like-minded people.  It's so easy to make friends here with so many things to do.  We've made some real connections with some great new friends.

We’ve made so many friends since moving in, it’s just marvellous

Mr McQueen – Gowanbrae Village, VIC

We lived in our family home for 53 years and when we initially moved into the street there was a real community feeling. We all joined together and helped each other out. Over the course of time this changed so much and unfortunately many of our original neighbours have passed on. So the types of people moving into our street were completely different and we lost the community feeling.

I feel very secure living here. It's a wonderful place to live.

Mrs Doherty, North Lakes Retirement Resort

I'm by myself now and knowing I have the support of my friends so close by and an onsite nurse whenever I may need it gives me real peace of mind.  I feel very secure living here.  It's a wonderful place to live.
