Don’t get us wrong, we love the latest video game releases, but nothing quite compares to the grip that retro games have on us, right? The best part is that you don’t need to relocate your old Mega Drive or Nintendo Game Boy because these games can be played on new consoles. Without further ado, these are the most nostalgic-inducing video games that you can purchase at your local Stockland centre!
- Resident Evil 4 – originally released in 2005, this upcoming survival horror game is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24.
- Mario Kart 9 – a tried-and-true video game that quite possibly everyone has played at least once in their life, Mario Kart is releasing its ninth game in July this year. Could it be the last hurrah?
- The Sims 4 – having recently celebrated its 23rd Birthday in February, The Sims 4 game is expected to have yet another update in March this year!
- Sonic the Hedgehog – the future for Sonic the Hedgehog looks bright with plans to release three free DLC updates in 2023.
Pokémon – it’s finally here! Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was released last year and that means 2023 will be dedicated to its downloadable content.

Classic movies have made a resurgence lately and understandably so – who doesn’t love to feel the warm and fuzzies from a film that evokes special memories from childhood? These are some of the best contemporary movies that are dripping with nostalgic vibes.
- Super Mario Bros. Movie – when video games and films combine, you’re left with the masterpiece that is Super Mario Bros. Movie. You can expect to watch this gem in cinemas from April 6.
- Top Gun: Maverick – released last year, this billion-dollar movie does not disappoint (some even say it’s better than the original!) Tom Cruise, action, and breathtaking visuals, need we say more?
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – another Marvel blockbuster is in cinemas right now! Take it from us, you won’t want to miss this!
- Avatar: The Way of Water – also recently shown on the big screen, Avatar: The Way of Water is everything you’d dream a sequel to be.
- Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again – the perfect Friday night movie! Watch it on Disney Plus or Prime Video.
