Foodie trends Cloud Bread

Category: food

A little creativity can go a long way when you have kiddies in the house and what better place to look for some inspiration than on social media? Instagram, TikTok, and even Pinterest are full of creative foodie trends that are taking the world by storm – from whipped coffee to baked feta pasta – there’s a new viral recipe popping up almost every day. But that got us thinking, do these recipes actually work? Well, we tried making cloud bread and sushi sandwiches, and the outcome was even better than we imagined

First up, cloud bread! These little clouds are so light and airy that it’s like taking a bite out of a marshmallow. Although, nothing is more satisfying than tearing them open to reveal a burst of vibrant colour. Once we mastered the cloud bread, we tackled sushi sandwiches, which are an ideal lunchbox solution for fussy eaters! Plus, it’s sushi minus the hassle, so parents will love these too.

We don’t want to leave you hanging too much longer without the recipes, so read on for our step-by-step guides on making cloud bread and sushi sandwiches.

Cloud bread

Method

Preheat the oven to 160 degrees fan forced.

Step one

In a large bowl, whip the egg whites on a medium speed until bubbles form.

Step two

Gradually add in the sugar and continue to whip until the mixture becomes foamy.

Step three

Add the cornflour and continue to whip, but this time on high. Whip the mixture until glossy peaks form on the whip.

Step four

Use a rubber spoon or spatula to stir in the food colouring of your choice

Step five

Scoop the mixture onto a lined baking tray and smooth the edges. It should look like a dome.

Step six

Bake for 18 minutes or until the crust begins to turn golden. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing the bread in half.

Tip: repeat steps 2-7 to create other coloured cloud bread.
