Poppy the Possum is helping Paint Holroyd REaD

Holroyd City Council is promoting a community literacy building program called Paint Holroyd REaD.  The program's aim is to encourage all levels of the community to support the development of children's early literacy skills from birth, so that they will be ready for reading and writing at school.

Literacy is a key to life's success and research shows that foundational skills learnt between the ages of 0 and 5 years are critical for developing literacy skills at school.

How can you, organisations or businesses be involved in the Paint Holroyd REaD program?

• Become a Community Reading Day Partner
• Encourage parents to read a book to their child each day
• Invite Poppy to your business/venue
• Sponsor a book and have your details included to reflect your Paint Holroyd REaD Partnership
• Make a donation to the program which enables Poppy the Possum to visit more Community areas
• Become a promotional Partner and help us spread the word through your newsletters or publications
• Give us your ideas; let us know how you think we can promote language and literacy for children.
