Q: When did construction commence?
A: The redevelopment works commenced at the beginning of August 2010 following DA approval.
A: The main demolition works are now complete, with construction of the new buildings taking place. All planning approval and permits are in place, and we will continue to work closely with Council and the authorities, together with retailers and the community, throughout the construction process.
Q: Why was the original Nathan St car park demolished?
A: This car park was demolished to create space to build the Myer store, new Woolworths, specialty stores and a new multi level car park with improved access and a parking guidance system.
Q: Which car parks are closing or changing, and when?
A: Alfred Street Car Park Entrance Change: A new car entrance has been created near the old car entrance which provides safer access for cars and pedestrians in and out of the centre. The older car entrance is now for service vehicles and Taxis only.
Patrick Street Car Park: A new car park has been created on Patrick Street which features 250 additional car spaces. This car park provides easy and convenient access into Stockland Townsville off Elizabeth Street.
Ross River Road Upper Level Car Park (above Rebel Sport): This car park is now closed and will reopen with the new food court in July 2012. Access from this car park into the centre will be via a new customer lift.
Ross River Road Ground Level Car Park: This car park has been closed to make way for construction of the new Myer store.
Q: Which centre entrances are closing or changing, and when? (entrance doors)
A: Centre Entrance closure (Rebel Sport enterance) - The entrance from the Ross River Road upper level car park is now closed and escalators are no longer accessible.
Q: Which shops are closing and when?
A: Some retailers within the centre may close as part of the redevelopment works. Signage will be in place within the centre to communicate these changes to all customers.
A: The redevelopment is being delivered in phases to ensure that our customers can continue to shop at their favourite shops. It will be business as usual and customers will be able to enjoy all the variety that Stockland Townsville currently has on offer.
Q: When will Myer be open for trade?
A: Myer is scheduled to open in October 2012.
Q: When will the new car park be open?
A: Some new car spaces are now open in the new multi level car park which fronts Nathan Street and Alfred Street, there is a new ramp access available on Nathan Street. The remainder of the new car park will open with Myer in October 2012.
Q: When will the new food court open for trade?
A: The existing food court will remain open until the new foodcourt is complete. The new food court will open in July 2012.
Q: Will any roads close?
A: Some roads will be impacted temporarily as part of the redevelopment. Any roads affected will have Traffic controls onsite during works to direct the traffic, as well as signage.

Q: What environmental initiatives have been implemented in the redevelopment?
A: The redevelopment is being designed to achieve a Greenstar accreditation of 4 stars. It is proposed that the development will include a wide variety of initiatives to achieve this rating, including:
- Recycling 80 per cent of construction waste.
- Installation of 5 star rated water fittings and fixtures and use of harvested rainwater for toilet flushing.
- Use of paints with low volatile organic compounds, sealants, adhesives and flooring materials.
- Natural ventilation of carparks to reduce energy consumption.
- Provision of cyclist facilities.
Q: What is happening to all the concrete and demolition rubbish (removal/disposal/recycling)?
A: 80 per cent of for construction & demolition waste will be recycled. All waste being disposed of is delivered to a licensed disposal facility and tracking dockets are retained for all waste removed from site.

Local or regional area
Q: What strategy is in place to manage the reduced parking?
A: Signage is in place to direct traffic to the multi level car park which fronts Nathan Street and Alfred Street.
To ensure the centre remains accessible and a safe environment we are putting in place many initiatives including additional traffic management around the centre as well as taking staff parking off-site to free up parking for customers.
A new car park is now open on the corner of Patrick Street and Elizabeth Street and provides an additional 250 car spaces for customers. Entry to Stockland Townsville from this car park is off Elizabeth Street.
Q: Will there be changes to the bus stops during construction?
A: The bus stops on Elizabeth Street have been relocated south along Elizabeth Street. The bus stops on Ross River Road remain unchanged.
Q: How many new jobs will be created during construction and when the centre opens?
A: The redevelopment of the centre is a significant investment in the future of the Townsville and will create local jobs for local people, including more than 400 new retail jobs, as well as 660 jobs in construction, and a further 1000 flow-on jobs in the broader community.
