Why would you move interstate?
So you’ve found yourself with an empty nest but you’re busier than ever, you’ve got plans all the way til Christmas 2018! You’re earning so many frequent flyer points visiting family and friends that you haven’t seen for years or maybe traveling to warmer places in winter, either way you seem to be spending more time interstate than at home!
This is a scenario that so many over 50’s find themselves in when they get to that stage in life when the kids have moved out or won’t move out unless you move out, work is not taking up most of their days and seeing this beautiful country we live in becomes a bigger priority than it ever was. This is why so many over 50’s opt for a move from suburbia to an interstate paradise.
When looking at the next move, people are different, but generally speaking when over 50’s begin to look into what’s really important to them, common things seem to come up. They are looking for a home that is in a good position, close to amenities; like shopping, dining and medical, is secure with a low crime rate, has a range of leisure facilities available and sunshine all year round definitely does help.
With this in mind, there’s no wonder that Queensland and in particular the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast rank highly in the top 10 places to retire in Australia! There are quite a few similarities; both areas have amazing beaches, think golden sand stretches and salt in your hair, great weather all year, even winter sees beautiful blue skies and perfect sunsets and both are vibrant townships that offer lots of fun things to do for over 50’s not to mention the entertainment options for the family when they come and visit.
Recently at Halcyon, we have seen an influx of interstate buyers, they say they made the move for a number of reasons: the locations of our over 50’s communities; from the Gold Coast to Bli Bli and something in between, we are have communities in locations that suit almost everyone. The lock and go lifestyle – so you don’t have to worry about who’s going to mow the lawn while you are living it up on the other side of the country. There is also a real sense of community with so much to do at our 5-star leisure precincts plus the multitude of interest groups to get involved in, you will feel immediately at home and no doubt make so many new friends.
So if you have been tossing and turning about making your next move, maybe now is the time to start revisiting your priorities and looking at your options, you never know, this move could be just what you need!
