Sunshine Mitre 10 to call new Aura Business Park home

Stockland is pleased to announce the first commercial tenant within the new trade and construction precinct at Aura Business Park. Sunshine Mitre 10 will be the first business to call the new area home, having signed a contract for three blocks of land within the highly sought-after development.

The sale kicks off the launch of the new precinct within the Stockland Aura Business Park, which opened in 2018 and is already home to more than 50 businesses. With industrial land on the coast in short supply, Stockland will be releasing new commercial land lots in the coming weeks.

The park offers space for a range of businesses including light industry and manufacturing, bulky goods and showrooms, commercial office space, storage and warehousing, research and development, and indoor sports and recreation. Surrounded by an active residential community, the precinct will be the driving force behind the significant economic growth on the Sunshine Coast with an estimated 20,000 new jobs generated upon completion of the future city.

This bespoke trade and construction precinct, ideally positioned alongside the Bells Creek Arterial Road, will soon be directly connected to the Bruce Highway. It is a one-stop shop for organisations within the construction and trade industry, providing all tradespeople and residents’ construction supply needs.

With 50,000 residents set to build their homes at Aura, the park will be in high demand as construction shows no sign of slowing down in the burgeoning regional city. Aura Business Park is an ideal location for Sunshine Mitre 10, one of the largest independently operated and owned hardware suppliers in Queensland, to open a new trade and retail store.

Matthew Byrne, Senior Economic Development Manager at Stockland, said business growth in the region was aligned with Aura’s ambition to become a city where people live, work and play.

Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager, Neil Hutchins, said Aura Business Park’s new construction precinct provided a unique opportunity for the brand, which is celebrating its 110th year in business this year, to open its 20th site.

“The Aura store will be our eighth site on the Sunshine Coast, and part of a steadily expanding network across Queensland, employing more than 400 staff,” Mr Hutchins said.

“Aura is a thriving hub of construction with thousands of homes being built over the next twenty years, we know there will be a huge appetite from tradespeople, owner builders and homeowners alike.

“Settling in Aura fits with our focus on supporting community initiatives and sporting organisations in the towns in which we operate.”

The site will be developed by Annecy Properties, with Sunshine Mitre 10 looking to open the doors to its first customers by mid-2022.

Colliers Managing Director Nick Dowling, who managed the sale of the site, said the new construction precinct would be popular as there was strong demand for quality commercial land in the area.

“The community’s position at the gateway to the Sunshine Coast and adjacent to the Bruce Highway, allowing easy access to Brisbane’s CBD, international airport and port puts businesses in the community within easy reach of tens of thousands of potential customers daily,” Mr Dowling said.

On completion, Aura is planned to include two business parks, 10 sporting grounds, 25 community facilities, 20 educational facilities, and 700 hectares of conservation areas and parkland.
