Free outdoor fitness sessions hosted by Sovereign Pocket in Brisbane’s thriving western corridor are proving a hit with residents looking to shed kilos, improve their health and happiness and make new friends.

The community’s Life Life Get Active program has the highest membership rate for all Stockland communities across Australia and numbers have almost doubled in the past year, with more than 275 people signed up.

Designed for people of all ages and fitness levels, the 45-minute boxing, cross training and yoga sessions run Monday to Friday during the school term, with participants also able to access a free nutrition plan, easy-to-follow video recipes and budget guidelines.

The program has been running in Sovereign Pocket since 2015 and participants tell us the sessions are not only helping to address health issues such as diabetes but they’re also bringing family members closer together while forging new friendships.

Sovereign Pocket is ranked second-highest in the country for liveability on the Stockland Liveability Index, while scoring the top spot for education as well as personal circumstances.

The Index shows resident satisfaction with the community is high, with 93 per cent of residents telling us Sovereign Pocket has met or exceeded their expectations.

Residents are also significantly more satisfied than the national average on a range of aspects, including standard of living, feelings of safety and ease of driving around and parking within the community.

Sovereign Pocket offers an abundance of open space, parks and a playground, extensive walkways and cycleways, and outdoor exercise equipment to encourage residents to get active in the great outdoors.

All homes are also within walking or cycling distance of the local school via dedicated pathways, encouraging positive exercise habits in the younger generation that can have lifelong benefits.
