Elara marks milestone with free mega movie night

More than 1,000 people rolled out their picnic blankets to celebrate Australia Day and mark the opening of the new playing fields at Stockland’s Elara community in Marsden Park on 26 January.

The thriving community hosted a free party and movie night with food, activities and a cricket workshop attracting hundreds of families from across the region. Revellers lapped up a free Lions Club barbecue and complimentary drinks and popcorn before relaxing with an outdoor showing of the feature film Moana.

Face-painting, balloon bending and a jumping castle added to the festivities, while budding cricketers were taught new skills through a Cricket Australia workshop.

Richard Rhydderch, Stockland General Manager, NSW Residential Development, said the successful event served as a great opportunity to bring the community together in a top location and celebrate all things Australia. “Elara’s brand new playing fields are already proving to be a wonderful asset for the entire community and we look forward to seeing a growing number of families utilise this stunning space,” Mr Rhydderch said.
