New Primary School proposed for Stockland Elara Community

Stockland welcomes the recent project update by the Department of Education for a new primary school in its Elara community, with concept plans underway and plans submitted for approval.

The planned $55 million dollar school, will be located on Northbourne Drive, will cater for up to 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Year six and will cover three hectares of land, over three levels.  The state-of-the-art school will feature a central outdoor area, library, hall, special education unit, canteen and sporting fields.

Mike Milligan, Elara Project Director for Stockland, said that the announcement of the application was an important milestone in the growth of the Elara community.

"The proposed new school at Elara is an exciting development for existing and future Elara residents and surrounding communities, and will continue to solidify Elara as a family-friendly community for the fast-growing Marsden Park area.  The region is undergoing a large amount of growth and transformation and Elara's new primary school is an important addition to the already bustling thriving community.

"St Luke's Catholic College was a welcome addition to the Elara estate in 2017 and has seen significant growth since then so the new primary school will be a fantastic addition to Elara's educational offering.

"With 40 hectares plenty of green, open spaces and a close-knit community, Elara is a fantastic environment to raise a family and the new primary school provides residents with the opportunity to send their children to school close to home.  We look forward to sharing more details as they become available."

The Department of Education forecasts the completion of the school in 2021, pending authority approvals and construction.
