External shading devices reduce heat gain through windows in summer and keep your home cool.

FACT:

Eaves provide better protection from heat than internal window coverings.

External shading devices reduce heat gain by 70-85 per cent. Internal coverings like blinds only  reduce heat gain by 15 per cent. This can save up to 450kg of CO2 per year.

Save up to 350kg of CO2 per year.

External fixed shading devices used over north facing windows and external adjustable shading devices applied over westerly facing windows cutting summer solar heat gain and reducing heating and cooling energy requirements by approximately 20%. Savings attributed to summer cooling by electric cooling system. Low additional cost is for five external blinds fitted by homeowner. High cost is for 10 meters of timber eaves installed by a builder.
