The public launch of home sites at Stockland’s vibrant new Bokarina Beach community on the Sunshine Coast will take place on Saturday, 8 July.

Mark McMahon, Senior Development Manager at Stockland, said the project would benefit both the local community and the wider region and complemented the vision for Oceanside as a vibrant new way of coastal living.

“Our commitment to provide land for a new surf lifesaving facility, public plaza and community centre site remains unchanged in the master plan, as does the plans for a new public beach access, more than two hectares of parkland and kilometres of walking and cycle paths.

“The amendments that have been made to the master plan will result in better outcomes for the local community and support our plans to make Bokarina Beach a high quality community and sought-after destination.”

Amendments to the master plan include the connection of Bokarina Beach to the wider Oceanside community via a shared pedestrian and cycle path under a newly constructed bridge on Nicklin Way. 

Kayakers will also enjoy a proposed kayak launch beach at Bokarina Beach with uninterrupted paddling thanks to the extension of Lake Kawana with the waterway flowing under Nicklin Way and through the new community.

Traffic calming measures will be installed along Wurley Drive and Beach Drive to discourage use by non-local traffic and Beach Frontage street will have no entry access from Oceanic Drive.

Mr McMahon said environmental monitoring was already taking place onsite, and Stockland’s environmental stewardship would continue for the duration of its development of the community.

The intersection of Lake Kawana Boulevard and Nicklin Way is set to be upgraded as part of the masterplan, allowing improved access to the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct and the future Birtinya Town Centre, with construction expected to begin in early 2017.

Mr McMahon said the first land release at Bokarina Beach was planned for mid-2017 and home sites would suit a wide range of lifestyles and budgets.

“We are already receiving plenty of enquiries and I would encourage people to register their interest now,” Mr McMahon said.

Bokarina Beach will include boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, a community centre and outdoor plaza for markets, festivals and community events, tourist accommodation and extensive on-street car parking for visitors.

Oceanside is set to become a world-class health, retail, commercial, education and residential hub for the Sunshine Coast with health and wellbeing at its core.
