The first childcare centre for Stockland’s thriving Newport community will soon open its doors, with construction due to finish next month. The $2.8 million purpose-built centre will have a licensed capacity for over 90 children. The centre will be managed by Green Leaves Early Learning.

The new centre will cater for children aged six weeks to six years and will feature innovative learning hubs, and expansive outdoor playspaces. Key features include discovery tracks, edible gardens and an in-house chef.

Located on Lakeview Promenade with access via Cardinal Crescent, the facility will specialise in the fundamental stages of educational development, from nursery through to kindergarten.

The centre adds to the area’s growing education precinct which already boasts more than six education establishments within walking distance – including Hercules State Primary School, Southern Cross Catholic College and Grace Lutheran College – servicing children from early education all the way through to later high school years.

Blair Britton, Stockland Senior Development Manager, said the construction marked the next step in catering for the growing community.

“We’re thrilled to expand the fantastic education offerings at Newport with this first childcare centre,” Mr Britton said.

“Newport is committed to delivering key community facilities and infrastructure within walking distance of residents' homes. We look forward to welcoming families later this year.”

The new childcare centre will feature age-appropriate technology to encourage exploratory play and promote sensory experiences for the children, while parents will have access to a user-friendly app to keep them informed and connected throughout the day.

Bachelor-qualified educators will deliver the national framework, while STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and play-based learning will provide children with opportunities to reach their potential and prepare them to transition into formal schooling.

Green Leaves Early Learning will provide convenient all-inclusive fees for parents' peace of mind, covering nappies, linen, hats, sunscreen and nutritious chef-prepared meals and snacks. Extra-curricular activities such as language, music and movement classes, events, excursions, and visiting shows will also be included.
