Green focus is a master plan

Newport’s Masterplan has a clear vision to lead the way in delivering green spaces, sustainability programs and an active lifestyle by the water.

Currently, Newport residents enjoy tree-lined kilometres of walking pathways which wrap around Newport Lake, plus well-appointed parks with expansive open areas.

Among these parks is the ‘Touch By Olivia’ playground. Recognising the importance of inclusivity, this area has been designed as an all abilities playground for locals to enjoy and forms part of the award-winning Spinnaker Park. 

Newport locals will also soon be able to enjoy an additional lakeside park which is about to start construction. The park will invite residents to relax in its picturesque surroundings and enjoy recreational non-motorised water activities such as kayaking and paddle-boarding. 

While promoting an outdoor, active lifestyle through green spaces and high quality parks, Newport is dedicated to deliver various sustainability programs. 

Stockland is committed to maintain ecosystem function across the surrounding wetlands and adjacent Ramsar site through a monitoring program. The wetlands area forms part of the 120,000ha Moreton Bay Ramsar site, which is of international importance, and Stockland is focused on safeguarding and supporting this natural environment.  

Newport will also be paving the way through recycled roads in its new Pier precinct. Otherwise known as Reconophalt™ road, this innovative product by Downer is the first road surfacing material in Australia containing high recycled content derived from waste streams, such as soft plastics, glass and toner, which would otherwise be bound for landfill or stockpiled.
