While our residents at Stockland Ridgecrest Retirement Village love to get out and about in the wider community, they also love taking advantage of the community centre and social activities right on their doorstop – and why wouldn’t they!

With an exclusive community centre featuring a billiards room, BBQ space, men’s shed and hairdressing salon there’s plenty of spaces to enjoy. Plus, with a thriving social calendar including movie nights, art and craft, exercise activities and more – you could never get bored!

We spoke to Stockland team member Susan to see what our Ridgecrest residents love getting up to most.

Art and Craft
With a thriving flair for creativity, our resident art and craft group get together weekly to knit, sew, stitch and paint – the opportunities are endless in this group! Enjoying one another's company plus some afternoon tea and coffee, the residents enjoy crafting for themselves, their yearly fete or to raise money for the social club too.

Whether it be a social game or something a little more competitive, residents enjoy a round of bowls on the outdoor green all year round (weather permitting, of course!). It’s a great way to get some fresh air, keep healthy and active while socialising with friends – who just love to motivate and encourage everyone to give it a go! After bowling, some residents like to kick on at a fellow resident’s place afterwards too. Keep the good times going!

Walking Group
Twice a week our residents meet up in the village to enjoy some light walking, fresh air, sunshine, outdoors and social catch ups. The walking group aim to keep their muscles moving, maintain balance and keep the heart rate up. Now let’s not forget the social side too! With the residents enjoying a chit chat among like-minded friends to start the morning, then looping back into the community centre for a cuppa together.

While residents enjoy many regular activities on the calendar, there are always so many more that pop up throughout the year. The team at Ridgecrest love throwing events, big or small, to bring the community together whether that be ice cream day, dad’s day sausage sizzle, Melbourne cup or afternoon tea get-togethers – needless to say any excuse will do!
