While the residents of Stockland Camden View Retirement Village love to get out and about in the wider community, they also love taking advantage of the amenities and social activities right on their doorstep – and why wouldn’t they!
With a newly renovated clubhouse and a thriving activities calendar including social events, clubs, exercise classes, bus trips and more, you could never get bored!
Curious to see what our residents love getting up to? We spoke to resident Susan to find out for you.
She says, “Camden View is a good mixture of young and old, that bring new ideas and changes that are made with respect for each other. There is so much joy in this village and more to be had – kindness reigns here at Camden Village!”
New to Camden View is the craft group and according to Susan, “hearing the laughs and giggles coming out of this group, it’s a shame it didn’t start up sooner!”. Like-minded residents get together each week, bringing along their favourite craft or project, from knitting to sewing and more! Head on down to the clubroom for a great time chatting with friends, and don’t fill up beforehand as the ladies in this group don’t rush home – BYO your lunch and stick around!
Tai Chi & Gentle Exercise
Led by resident volunteer Des, this weekly exercise class varies between Tai Chi and gentle exercise and is a great way to stay fit and healthy. Residents love heading outdoors to catch up with friends while taking part in some light exercise among Camden View’s beautifully manicured gardens. The side benefits? Regular exercise can help you to enhance your energy levels, maintain a healthy weight and support your mental and emotional wellbeing!
Every town has a local library, but the residents at Camden View enjoy having their very own library just a short walk away in the village clubroom. “We all love a good read here,” Susan says. Residents donate their old books to the library to share around with fellow residents, and every now and then, well-loved books are ‘retired’ and donated to the local Lions Club to find a brand-new audience.
Each month around 80 residents get together in the newly renovated clubhouse to enjoy a snag on the barbeque, pizza, chicken skewers or even prawns. BYO your drink of choice and get ready to catch up with your village family!
Oh, and don’t forget to bring some change for raffle tickets – there are great prizes to be won and the money raised continues to fund these fabulous monthly dinners.
With regular bus trips on the social calendar, residents always keep an eye out on the noticeboard to see what the next bus trip will be. The destinations vary, ranging from a day out at the beach, a bite to eat at a local eatery or some much-needed retail therapy at a major shopping centre, but you’re sure to have a wonderful time getting out and about.
