Residents at Stockland's Willowdale Retirement Village were treated to a special Christmas concert by more than 50 pupils from Leppington Public School.

Principal Christine Easther said the kids were so excited. "We encourage our pupils to be involved in the community in a number of ways so they feel connected."

Willowdale resident Roma Moon said: "It's really rewarding for us to see the fresh young faces of the next generation. Watching the kids dance and sing brings back so many nice memories of a time when we were young too."

Fellow resident Rosemary Wolfenden loved the opportunity to connect with younger people. "You can't help but to smile and feel happy when you're around children singing. And it creates beautiful memories for us."

Willowdale manager Deborah Bennett said the village was looking at ways to work with the school. "We're talking about a visit to Leppington Public for Harmony Day and Grandparents Day."
