Get to know our resident Lesley and how she’s enjoying life at Willowdale

Ten years ago, Lesley started to think about her next chapter. Would she like to stay in her Wattlegrove home of the last 26 years? Or would she like to move on, try something new and make the most of life? After visiting Willowdale Retirement Village, it was the latter. So, Lesley sold her home and has now been a welcome part of the Willowdale family for just over three months. Even better, Lesley is now reunited with her old neighbour Dorothy, who also moved from the suburb of Wattlegrove.

Lesley did her homework when researching her next move, and she just knew that Willowdale was right for her. “I loved how new my home was and I loved the design of it, in fact it’s bigger than my last home! The village is clean, the staff are friendly, it’s close to the city and I’m only 20 minutes from my old neighbourhood so I can still see my GP, dentist and friends.”

While family are not near for Lesley, she says “They know how happy and content I am, and how fulfilling my life is at Willowdale. I enjoy taking an exercise class or two, knitting with friends, going for a walk, enjoying a cuppa or heading out to the shopping village for some retail therapy, movie or lunch!”

When asked what advice Lesley has for others considering a move into retirement living, she says “Don’t wait to enjoy this time in your life, it’s up to you to make it what you want it to be!” She assuringly added, “You will still enjoy your privacy and you can be as involved in as little or as much of the social activities as you’d like to be.” “It’s like being in a little resort as people are always so happy.”

It’s residents like Lesley who make Willowdale Retirement Village the place that it is!
