Hear from Ruth about her experience living at Greenleaves Retirement Village.
Downsizing was initially a daunting concept for Ruth Turner, who had been in her family home for nearly 50 years.
“Originally I didn’t really want to go to a retirement village, but I have a friend here at Greenleaves who I meet for coffee, and when she settled in, she kept talking about how nice it was,” Ruth said.
“So, one day, I decided to come and have a look, and when I was shown this place, I fell in love with it.”
With its central location, green lined walking paths, a lively community hub and plenty of activities to be involved in, the move to Stockland Greenleaves Retirement Village turned out to be a wonderful decision for the vivacious Red Hat Society member.
“It was a big change to go from a four bedroom family home to a two bedroom villa.. but I am so happy. I walk in every day and think, I love my home!”
An avid reader, Ruth enjoys the resident library and is involved in plenty of organised activities such as local dinner nights. Only minutes from Westfield Mt Gravatt and with access to every amenity, Ruth also makes the most of her location.
“Just about every day I am out with friends for coffee and catch-ups. The location is amazing, just down the road from Westfield.”
Ruth also loves the close knit community at Greenleaves.
“There’s so much to do here, and I love the community feel. If you are lonely, you can simply go down to the community centre and you can be sure someone will be there to have a cup of tea with you!”
Although downsizing may seem like a daunting decision, Ruth believes that anyone considering a move to a Stockland retirement village should take the plunge.
“Do your research, but don’t hesitate! I like the security of being here, and of course being part of a wonderful community. You’ve got choice, variety and can live your life the way you want to.”
“You really can do that here.”
