Meet Jane Flynn, our Sales Professional at Arilla Retirement Village, Victoria.
Why did you choose to work in Retirement Living?
I am a people person and enjoy seeing people happy and content with their life. I take pride in being a part of their journey.
What is the best part of your role?
Spending time with great people.
What do you do in your spare time?
How would the residents describe you?
Open and honest.
What is the best thing about Arilla Retirement Village?
Companionship. Whether it’s a catered meal with other residents or a quick chat whilst collecting your mail (from the mail room).
Are there many resident activities at Arilla Retirement Village? Which is the most popular?
The list is growing all the time. Happy Hour is very popular, followed by bowling, croquet and the movie nights.
Do you have any advice for someone thinking about moving into a retirement village?
Definitely take advantage of a trial stay* and see for yourself!
What is the biggest change you have seen in a residents’ life?
I have seen lots of changes but one in particular – a couple moved in and the wife was very timid and shy. We lost the husband very unexpectedly and were very concerned for the wife. It has taken some time but she now joins in on the village activities and social events and always has a smile on her face. It’s very heart-warming.
