Brand new Burnside bus brings joy to residents
Having recently celebrated our 15th birthday, the team at Stockland Burnside Village thought it was the perfect time to upgrade our bus.
“The importance of a village bus cannot be understated. Whether the bus is used for social activities or access to shops or simply to get out of the village for the day because the resident may no longer drive, the village bus offers a convenient way to connect to the wider community,” said Nathan Broad, Operations Area Manager. “This new bus ensures that this will continue in a safe manner for the benefit to the Burnside Village community.”
And so the search began.
“I had a good conversation with the committee and village manager to understand the needs and wants for the new bus. This was certainly helpful.”
“After sourcing quotations and working through the details the bus was identified. Modifications to the bus were made to increase the storage area at the rear of the bus, install a grab rail and assistive step to enable greater use for the residents.”
The brand new 12 seater Toyota Hiace Commuter Bus was delivered to the village in July. Before the delivery, our team organised for a special wrap to be installed so that passers-by knew the happy passengers on the bus were Burnside Village residents. The artwork was selected by the residents’ association committee members, and includes the village’s colour (orange) and logo.
Ever since the bus arrived, you can now overhear excited chatter amongst residents asking each other “Have you seen our new village bus?”
