Did someone say they’re off to Knox? Well there are shopping centres, and then, there’s a day out. And for us here at Cameron Close your day out is just 14km away at Westfield Knox Shopping Centre. Plan a day out with a fellow resident, friends or family. You could start your day with a coffee catch up, invite your grandchildren for a morning play or stroll the mall for some much-needed retail therapy. Take a pit stop at Romano’s Coffee and enjoy a coffee made with love just for you. Need to take a rest from all that ‘retail therapy’? Why not pop your feet up in Gold Class to watch the latest flick, accompanied by your favourite drink and a light lunch? No need to move, they serve it straight to you! By now you might be ready to go home, so why not grab a takeaway dinner at Khazana Indian Restaurant and continue the day back at your place. While sitting in Gold Class as part of a Westfield is good for some, others may prefer a more boutique style cinema to watch the latest blockbuster. If that’s you, we recommend you visit Rivoli Cinema, less than 5km from our village. As most of us are familiar, film has played a fundamental role in the Camberwell community. Opening in 1940, this cinema now serves as a cultural and historical icon, available for everyone to enjoy. Get your diaries out and arrange a lady’s night with stop one being a nice meal on Camberwell Road, followed by the cinema. Head up the grand staircase and grab some popcorn or dessert, sit back and enjoy your cinema experiences in an impressive art deco design. Let the Rivoli Cinemas inspire you as a lover of film or architecture as it has been doing for many generations.
Bennettswood Bowls Club
Location: 179 Station Street Burwood
Phone: 03 9808 4373
Residents lets bowl! 4km down the road is Bennettswood Bowls Club, a club established way back in 1960 by members of the local community. With many upgrades and additions along the way, this club is still enjoyed today by its lifetime and new members alike. Of course having a game of bowls is fun and it’s a great sport to mingle and socialise with friends, but it can also benefit us in other ways. Lawn bowls is considered low impact which means it’s a therapeutic exercise that can be enjoyed by many while improving fitness, coordination and confidence. So, let’s go! Get a group together to have a game followed by a good old coldie amongst the wider community.
