When Godwin and Doris realised their farm was taking up too much of their time, the decision to down was made all that much easier.

So they decided to sell up and move to a retirement village closer to their children and grandchildren. They visited four villages, and quickly decided on Highlands.

“We found them to be the best of the lot,” said Godwin.

Aside from the attraction of their brand new home and a lower maintenance lifestyle, what helped them make the decision?

"There's so many caravans there, which meant most of the residents are young - that really pushed us."

Despite missing their farm and friends back in Foster, the couple have joined numerous groups and activities, ensuring their social calendar is full.

"In a good way, it's busier because there's always something to do."

You can usually find Godwin and Doris at village events, especially at open days where they are more than happy to show visitors through their home.
