When someone achieves the century milestone, it's a reason to celebrate.

The Queen had already sung her praises for Stockland's Salford Park Retirement Village resident Alf, ahead of his official birthday, but the community also wanted to mark the day with something special that was close to Alf's heart enlisting the help of a local musician to playing strong melodies on the violin.

Alf has been a resident in Stockland's Salford Park in Wantirna for 32 years having moved into the community with his wife in 1988, and has been a proud member of the community.

Alf had organised a road trip with friends and family to Canberra to personally receive his 100th birthday certificate from the Governor-General, but those plans where put on hold due to the current environment.

It was of course only natural that Stockland Village Manager Stephen Watt wanted to help Alf celebrate his milestone, in a way that upheld social distancing restrictions.

No one was going to let a little rain fall on Alf's parade!
