Meet Mary Scott, our Sales Professional at Taylors Hill Village.

Have you always worked in retirement living?
I started off working at Stockland in the residential business, and when an opportunity came up to work in retirement living I took it.

Why did you choose to work in retirement living?
I jumped at the chance to work with elderly customers – that’s where my heart is.

What do you think are the misconceptions about retirement living?
That’s it’s aged care. Retirement villages are about independent living. Residents can come and go as they choose, continue to work, and travel whenever they want to. The benefit is that they live in a low-maintenance home and in a community that is secure. They have peace of mind knowing that their home will be looked after if they aren’t there.

What surprises people the most when they visit or move in?
The quality of the homes. Because of the misconception around retirement living, visitors think the homes will be old and small. Our condo apartments and villas are modern and more spacious than they anticipate.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give a new resident?
Visit the village and take a look around. Chat to our residents to find out what their experience was like.

How is Taylors Hill different to other retirement villages?
Taylors Hill is tucked away in a quiet residential pocket, so many people don’t realise it’s here. It’s a beautifully presented village, and it feels like you’re in a quiet oasis. But then step outside the village gates and realise how close you are to amenities like public transport, Watergardens shopping centre and train station.

Tell us about the different home types available.
We have a range of home options that include 2 bed, 2 bed + study and 3 bed villas with single or double garages. We also have 1 bed, and 1 bed + study condo apartments for residents, all located within a secure building with swipe card entry next to the Community Centre.

What would you tell someone who wants to make the move?
Definitely do it sooner rather than later. So many of our residents say “I wish I did this sooner”. The younger you are when you move in, the more you’re able to enjoy the amazing facilities and activities on offer.
