Sunshine Coast’s newest tavern officially opens in heart of Baringa 


Stockland and Sunshine Coast Hotels are pleased to celebrate the official opening of the expansive $12.5 million Baringa Tavern in Aura, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.  


Located on the corner of Aura Boulevard and Edwards Terrace, the new family-friendly tavern is spread across 1,300 square metres – larger than an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Hotel operators and co-owners Richard Deery from the Story Bridge Hotel and Scott Armstrong from Sunshine Coast Hotels will oversee management of the community’s first entertainment offering. 


Centre Manager of Stockland Baringa Shane Monro, said that the tavern will sit in the same complex as the recently opened $33 million Baringa town centre, serving the growing Aura community of more than 3,000 residents. 


“We know how anticipated this opening is and are thrilled to deliver on yet another project in this booming town centre of Baringa. 


“The new tavern will be a place where locals can connect and socialise, complimenting other parts of Baringa now completed including a state primary school, sports fields, civic square, skate and scooter plaza, and Council community centre. 


“With the community held top of mind, the tavern will include an interactive kids zone, complete with a television, video games lounge and variety of activities for children of all ages. It will truly be a place for everyone to enjoy.” 


Managing Director at Sunshine Coast Hotel Group, Scott Armstrong, said that he and his fellow co-owner were pleased to finally open the venue up to the community of Aura, which has brought more than 50 new jobs to Baringa.


"We know that locals have been eagerly waiting for Baringa Tavern to open, and we feel confident that the features will deliver on what our patrons are looking for.  


“The décor pays homage to the history of Caloundra with original artwork and artefacts and a stunning main bar which forms the centerpiece of the bistro dining area.” 


The bistro will be open for lunch and dinner every day and will serve modern Australian cuisine, such as delicious woodfired pizza, classic pub meals and some Asian-inspired dishes, all prepared with fresh local ingredients.  


Mr Armstrong continued: “There is also a large outdoor verandah space which has a beautiful view over the parkland area. This is of course in addition to the sports bar complete with a 15-metre video wall, and a total of 40 taps available between the two bars.” 


Baringa Tavern will operate from 10am to midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and 10am to 2am on Friday and Saturday. There will also be a courtesy bus available for locals at designated times throughout the week. 


The Baringa complex will also see Cellarbrations open on Thursday 31 October.
