Smoke Free Areas

From 6 July 2015 Commercial outdoor dining areas will be smoke-free.

• This means smoking will be banned in any seated outdoor dining area of a restaurant, café or licensed venue while food is being served.

• If you break this law, you could receive a $300 fine on the spot.

• The business owner may also be penalised up to $5,500.

The four metre law will apply.

• This means that smoking within four metres of an entrance to or exit from a shopping centre, shop, restaurant, café or other public space will be against the law.

• If you break this law, you could receive a $300 fine on the spot.

These bans protect you from harmful second-hand tobacco smoke from cigarettes, pipes and waterpipes.
