Virtual School Holiday Workshops



With school holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start organising fun and engaging activities to keep the kids busy. These school holidays Stockland Bundaberg has organised virtual interactive technology workshops to keep the kids entertained and develop their creativity and imagination. 

 

Workshops include:

Astronomy (classes suitable for ages 5-8 and 9-12)

During the Astronomy workshop kids will embark on a Space Odyssey and discover the planets from our solar system. Students will uncover some of the secrets behind our mysterious and fascinating solar system.

Materials: White and/or coloured paper, textas, pencils, ruler, scissors, sticky tape and/or glue stick.

 

 

Coding (suitable for ages 9-12)

Using Scratch - a graphical programming tool created by MIT - students will learn how games and computer programs work. Scratch provides a fun graphic interface for teaching code and correct coding order. Kids will also learn how to code their own computer games.

Materials: Computer/laptop connected to the internet, and a Scratch free account from https://scratch.mit.edu/.

 

Animation (classes suitable for ages 5-8)

Join Stockland [asset name]’s live and interactive Animation workshop these school holidays! Students will learn what animation is, and how famous cartoons are animated. They will then imagine and create their own short cartoon animation on paper.

Materials: White and/or coloured paper, textas, pencils, scissors, sticky tape and/or glue stick.

Using the graphical programming tool Scratch, students will imagine, create and design a short virtual cartoon animation.

Paper Planes (classes suitable for ages 5-8 and 9-12)

Guided by the Boomerang Paper Plane Guinness World Record holder, children will make their own amazing paper plane. They will learn how and why each fold of the paper makes a difference in the aerodynamics of the plane.

Materials: A4 paper (80gsm preferred), pen, and ruler. 

 

The workshops are hosted virtually by Kids Unlimited via a private Zoom meeting. Limited spaces are available so make sure you register early to secure a spot. Some classes are suited to particular age groups.
