Meet Marcus, Nook Espresso
1. Tell us about your store...
We opened our original “hole in the wall” Nook Espresso right on the beach in Burleigh nearly 12 years ago, back in 2008. Three years later we branched out and created our second store here as part of Stockland Burleigh Heads in 2011. A year ago we opened our brand new store here, as part of the new outdoor area with Stoked. Our team is like a family, and after such a long time in the community, a lot of our customers are part of that family too.
2. What products, services or experiences do you offer?
Coffee, coffee, coffee!
Plus Acai bowls, cold pressed juices, toasted sandwiches, and lots of protein and goodie balls. Everything is really fresh and tasty, and designed to grab and take on the run. Most of our customers are usually out and about doing something, or heading somewhere. That being said, our stores are definitely a bit of a meeting place, especially of a morning. You'll usually run into someone you know, even if it's just someone you've gotten to recognise from the coffee line-up every morning.
3. What feedback to you get from your customers?
That we do a smooth, tasty and consistent cup of coffee. Everytime. Whenever our customers travel anywhere in the world the thing they miss the most is our coffee! We hear that one a lot.
4. What do you love about our local community?
Bureligh Heads has a nice little beach village vibe. Most people know eachother, which makes a pleasant and fun social scene while they are waiting for a coffee.
5. What do you love most about your job?
Getting up before the sunrises. Burleigh sunrise is magic. If there's anyone reading this that hasn't checked out the Headland at sunrise, get on it. And getting to drink coffee, that would definitely be a perk.
6. What’s three words that describe your store?
Simple. Easy. Friendly.
7. What are some of your favourite stores in your Stockland centre?
Love The Meatsmiths butcher! And always find myself in Earth Markets.
8. How have you coped with COVID-19 and what are you looking forward to?
Being predominately takeaway anyway we are really fortunate and haven’t been affected too much. Our amazing customers have been so supportive and we are so thankful for that. What I think has come out of this time is that it has made people appreciate the simple things in life and be more aware. But yes, definitely looking forward to things being back to normal soon!
