Meet Suzanne, Specsavers
1. Tell us about your store?
Locally owned franchise! Andrew Bilic and Suzanne Smith started this business in November 2009, with 3 staff members, one of whom is still with us. We now employ 13 dispensing staff and 2 optometrists.
2. What do you Love about your store?
We love glasses! So much so, that there is a trending hashtag #loveglasses! We also love that we have customers who have been coming to us for 10 years, for their glasses and eye health needs.
3. What do you love about our local Cairns community?
That it's family oriented. We have families of 3 generations, who come to us. We get Mums come in with bubs, that we get to cuddle so mum can try on frames! (Covid-19 times excluded of course)
4. What are some common customer questions you get?
Do you do eye tests? Yes! Yes! Yes! We have 3 therapeutically qualified optometrists. This means that not only will you get a comprehensive examination, but you'll be able to get prescriptions filled eg. Glaucoma medication, antibiotics for infections etc
5. What are some unusual customer questions you get?
Do glasses make my eyes worse? A common misconception. It may appear that way, however when you are wearing prescription glasses, the lenses are working to correct your vision. This means your eye muscles can relax and work naturally. Once you take them off, the eyes will be required to focus again without the help of vision correction, making you feel anything from disorientated to dizzy or sore.
6. What are some must-have items, services or experiences right now?
A back up pair of specs! Accidents happen unfortunately, so having a spare pair is a great relief. We do have a 2 for 1 offer which majority of our customers take up.
7. Why do you think Shopping Centres are important?
Shopping Centres offer our customers safe parking, with easy access to shops. Customers can come in for a consultation and then go on to do their groceries. Or leave their specs with us for repair, whilst they go for lunch or to the movies. It's a convenient, safe, air conditioned environment for customers and staff alike. We also get a lot of browsers which is wonderful, and we would not get that if out on the strip.
