This year Stockland Forster is sharing some unexpected joy and helping to bring families and the wider community together for Christmas by partnering with Ronald McDonald Family Retreat to support families this Christmas.
Precious time together
Families of children with serious illness can often suffer enormous physical, emotional and financial stress. Ronald McDonald Family Retreats are there to help relieve a little of this stress. They offer a welcoming and peaceful environment, often near the beach or close to local nature settings. Families with a seriously ill child, or those grieving the loss of a child, can come together in a calm and relaxing setting, far from the hospital environment. Our Family Retreats are open to any family that has had a child diagnosed with a serious illness. The entire family is welcome to stay for up to a week, although each retreat does have a maximum number of occupants.
For those families visiting the Forster based retreat, we’re arranging an event specifically for those who may otherwise be unable to celebrate at their home, as for most families this is the first chance they've had to come away together since their child's diagnosis and hospital stays. In many cases, this is their first holiday ever due to limitations which illness can have both physically and financially when caring for and travelling for medical reasons. The Ronald McDonald House Retreat aims to make the stay for each family as memorable as possible so by being able to make their Christmas extra special, an event is being held in conjunction with a special visitor from the North Pole.
How can you help?
Any business or person who may be able to help make this event a success and memorable experience by donating goods or services are welcome to contact the Forster Family Retreat.
About Ronald McDonald House
Welcome to the Forster Family Retreat, Wallis Lake NSW.
Looking out over the calming waters of Wallis Lake in Forster, NSW, our Ronald McDonald Family Retreat was the dream of local businessmen Adam Sherman and Ross Presgrave.
Cancer had touched both their lives and it was their goal to create a stunning retreat for families with children suffering from serious illness. In partnership with McDonalds there are now four deluxe family retreat cabins providing free accommodation to families of children suffering from serious illness.
