Meet Alison and Amy, Manning Shoes
1. Tell us about your store?
Our store is owned by a local family, and the business has been running for over 65 years. We have been based in the Forster Stockland location for 14 years, but prior to that we had traded for an extra 20 years in this precinct. Our store carries quality footwear that we source from many places of origin and we try our hardest to satisfy our local market.
2. What do you love about your store?
The main thing is everyday is different and we get to meet so many nice customers which is so amazing when we can then satisfy them with a shoe that they love, we then feel awesome to know we have made a small difference for that customer.
3. What products, services or experiences do you offer?
In terms of product we stock ladies and men’s fashion, sporting, workwear and slippers, and to stay modern and relevant we stock a wide range of popular brands. We also carry kids sport and school shoes. As a service we take the time to access feet and provide advice based on biomechanics of consumer to help guide them with the correct shoe. And obviously our staff love fashion so they are very excited to make sure you get the right look and not just sell something for the sake of it. That is part of the experience which is personal and genuine.
4. Why do you think shopping centres are important?
Shopping centres give customers a perfect all year-round environment for all weather conditions plus you have a broad range of retail mix as well as the larger drawcards to allow for constant foot traffic. As an independent retailer we are among many national chains which we feel helps the dynamics and uniqueness of the Forster centre.
5. What are your customers looking for right now?
Because its winter we have been selling lots of lambswool slippers plus more enclosed boots and shoes in ladies’ fashion. The big growth of recent has been the sports shoes with most people isolated to home we have seen a spike in walking thus selling the running shoes well.
6. What would you like your customers know before visiting your store?
That we are always happy to hear from our customers if we don’t have what they are looking for, please ask as we are very determined to get it if we can. Being local we rely on feedback so any time we can hear from our customers it helps us to be better.
