parkrun celebrates 1st birthday
Parkrun is a free, timed weekly 5km walk, jog or run held to benefit Gladstone residents, physically and socially.
Stockland formed a major partnership with the volunteer-run event, which started in Gladstone in June last year and will be celebrating its first birthday on Saturday 21st June 2014.
Stockland Gladstone marketing manager Terri Hewerdine said Parkrun was a positive social event.
"It's not a competition. There are no winners or losers," she said. "and the best part is there are no barriers to participating - anyone can come along whether it be with the family, pram, puppy or friends."
The weekly fun run starts at 7am sharp every Saturday morning and is a nice, flat track around the beautiful Lake Callemondah. Designed for fitness or fun, parkrun is suitable for all ages and abilities. It's just about getting out and about in your local park, doing something positive whether you walk it or run it.
Parkrun began in 2007 in London and has grown from 13 to 318,058 registered runners in 170 events around the world.
The run is an up and back track that starts and finishes at Lions Park in Kin Kora, Gladstone.
parkrun Gladstone will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday June 21 and we are inviting you all to come and celebrate with us in the Lions Park, Kin Kora. There will be free activities run by Hub Total Fitness, a barbeque, birthday cake and lots of other freebies to kick off your Saturday morning!
