Roadwork Update September 23
Works planned at the Kin Kora intersection for the current fortnight includes an interesting activity from an engineering perspective. A specialised tunnel boring machine will be in action to make way for the installation of a 1200mm diameter storm water pipe. The machine is located near the drain beside McDonalds and the Lions Park where it will commence boring, before exiting on the opposite side of the road, outside Petbarn. The tunnel boring machine is expected to drill about 6-8 metres each day with the stormwater pipes being jacked into position following the boring machine as it drills under the road.
Shamrock Civil is nearing completion of all storm water and sewerage pipe installation. The remaining drainage works along Philip Street and in front of the Coles supermarket are expected to be completed within the coming weeks.
Other activities planned over this work period include:
• Construction of the footpaths to link the new bus stops.
• Commence the construction of a wider access at the McDonald’s/Kmart Complex intersection. During construction, the access will remain open however there will be changed traffic conditions and we ask all motorists to please take care and follow signage at all times.
• Construction of a new left in/left out Stockland access on Philip Street. The temporary access will allow the contractor to safely complete works in the area away from traffic.
• Ongoing installation of electrical conduit for the new traffic signals and bus stop lighting.
