About the Samaritans Foundation
The Newcastle Anglican Board of Social Work was redefined as the Samaritans Foundation in 1984 to “assist in the expansion of the social and community service work within the Diocese”.
Samaritans work began as a few key services including emergency relief, a family centre and op shops. Samaritans now operate over 100 support services throughout the Central Coast, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Mid-North Coast regions. In 2012 our work spread to Mudgee in the Central Western NSW. Throughout these regions Samaritans offer support to a number of those in need including young people and families, those with disability or mental health challenges and the wider community.
