Community Christmas

Event dates

Description

This year Stockland Glendale, Jesmond and Wallsend are sharing some unexpected joy and helping bringing locals together for Christmas by partnering with Samaritans to support Christmas Lunch in the Park on Christmas Day at the Newcastle Foreshore.

This event is organised specifically for those who may otherwise be unable to celebrate. A number of people in our community have nowhere to go on Christmas day including those who have no family, are lonely, have no money to celebrate or are currently homeless.

Samaritans Christmas Lunch in the Park is an iconic community event for Newcastle, offering food, music, entertainment and even a visit from Santa for every guest. This year, we expect in excess of 1000 people and

  • This year’s event will take place again under the railway carriages on the Newcastle Foreshore commencing at 11am. More details here

About the Samaritans Foundation
The Newcastle Anglican Board of Social Work was redefined as the Samaritans Foundation in 1984 to “assist in the expansion of the social and community service work within the Diocese”.

Samaritans work began as a few key services including emergency relief, a family centre and op shops. Samaritans now operate over 100 support services throughout the Central Coast, Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Mid-North Coast regions. In 2012 our work spread to Mudgee in the Central Western NSW.  Throughout these regions Samaritans offer support to a number of those in need including young people and families, those with disability or mental health challenges and the wider community. More information about Samaritains here
