      Sustainability at Stockland is about ensuring we leave the communities and environment where we operate in good shape for future generations. In line with our purpose, we’re committed to creating shared value for all our stakeholders and to delivering 'a better way to live'.

      The Green Hills redevelopment presented a unique opportunity to help create the right balance of social, environmental and economic conditions for our communities, customers and investors now and in the future. Some key sustainability initiatives at Stockland Green Hills include:



      5 Star Green Rating

      The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), has recognised Stockland Green Hills for taking an industry-leading approach to sustainable design and development with the $414 million redevelopment of the centre, receiving a 5 Star Green Star – Design (Retail Centre) certified rating. Launched by the Green Building Council of Australia in 2003, Green Star is Australia’s only national, voluntary, holistic rating system for buildings and communities. The 5 Star Green Star rating by the Green Building Council of Australia signifies ‘Australian Excellence’.  


      Solar Power

      The centre partnered with Todae Solar to deliver a 1.863MW system installedcomprised of 5,480 solar panels, covering a roof area of approximately 27,000 square metres. The system is expected to generate approximately 2,770,000 kWh of renewable energy per year, enough to power 295 homes.

      Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities

      Four electric vehicle charging facilities, two Tesla Destination chargers and two Chargepoint charging stations, are located in the P5 Purple car park accessible from the corner of Stronach Avenue and Mitchell Drive and are available for use free of charge.

      LED Lighting

      Additional Initiatives

      A number of state-of-the-art sustainability features have now been incorporated into Stockland Green Hills including, low-energy light fittings, water efficient toilets, tapware, showers as well as waterless urinals and energy efficient air conditioning within the mall, among many others.
