From Thursday 1 September 2016, Stockland Merrylands will introduce a new mobility parking register replacing the existing Privilege Card Scheme. The new scheme will ensure the service is only used by drivers with a current mobility disability pass from the Roads and Maritime Service (RMS).
Stockland Merrylands Centre Manager, Amy Jamieson, said: “The new mobility parking scheme will allow the centre to update the system and ensure a fairer system for all. While we know the majority of our customers do the right thing, it has come to our attention that many passes are out of date and people could be misusing the privilege.”
“We look forward to continuing to provide a great parking service for our mobility impaired customers, with free parking all day every day and 99 disabled parking bays near centre entrances.”
Customers with a valid mobility disability pass will need to re-register for the new scheme at Stockland Merrylands before 1st September. The simple process will require the driver to show their driver’s license and mobility pass to the Customer Care Desk on the Centre ground level. Once registration is complete, customers will visit the desk to have their ticket validated during each shopping trip, but will only need to show their mobility pass to the centre once a year.
All customers with a valid pass will continue to be offered free all day parking at Stockland Merrylands, including access to 99 dedicated mobility parking spaces close to centre entrances.
Amy Jamieson continues, “At Stockland Merrylands we are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience and ensure greater access and amenity for our customers. This is just another initiative to ensure our customers shopping experience is convenient, easy and enjoyable.”
Mobility impaired customers also have free access to motorised scooters and wheelchairs to make their shopping easier. Please visit the Customer Care Desk on Ground Level to hire.
