Dads of Point Cook: Steve

In the lead up to Father’s Day, we wanted to get to know some of the awesome dads who work at our centre. We asked 14 dads to share their stories with us & now we’re sharing them with you.

We caught up with Steve from Lamburgerghini Bar, dad of 2.

What’s the best Father’s Day gift that you have received?:

My son gave me a watch. My daughter’s too young to give me a gift yet, she’s only 1 & a half. I guess her being born would be the best gift that she’s given me so far.

What has surprised you about being a dad?

Maturity.

What’s your biggest hope for your kids?

That they do better than what I have. Academically & job wise, that’s my biggest hope.

The best piece of parenting advice that you’ve received?

To be yourself & to treat your kids from the heart & not from your brain, if that makes sense.

Do you have a good Dad joke?

Dad walks into a Doctor’s office, the Doctor gives him 6 months to live. Dad couldn’t pay the bill, so the Doctor gave him another 6 months.

Dad walks into a Doctor’s office & says to him ‘I’ve got a ringing in my ear, what should I do?’ The Doctor said ‘don’t answer it’.

Who’s a dad that you admire?

I would have to say my dad, because he did so much for me, growing up he had 3 jobs to put me through private school. Plus he was coach for my soccer club. I look back at what he did there & the difficulty in that & then I compare myself today with running a business & not having much time for my kids & I wonder to myself how did who do it? Have time for us & to work all those jobs. That’s why I admire him.
