The biggest question we always get asked in store is the best way to keep newly bought bread fresh. Your typical loaf of bread will keep in the pastic bags that we provide it to you in and if eating in 3 to 5 days, you’re guaranteed absolute freshness.
Although, some our customer’s bread lasts longer, and in that case, I highly recommend purchasing a bread box, similar to the below. Be sure when using a bread box that you remove your baked goods from the plastic bags to store. A bread box will keep your bread as good as new for 5 to 7 days.
So many of our customers buy their bread loaves in bulk and freeze, especially large families. Whether you’re buying in bulk or know you won’t be finishing your bread by that 4 day mark, the freezer is your best place to preserve it.
You can freeze your bread in the plastic bag that it came in and it should stay good frozen for up to 3 months. Then thaw at room temperature or even just place your frozen pieces straight into the toaster.
Hot tip for keeping your bread even fresh, especially for those who don’t have a breadbox – using a fresh cloth or tea towel, cover your bread and then place your covered bread in a paper bag and straight into the pantry. This technique also helps to uphold the crust of your bread.
