Here, we introduce you to the faces behind some of your favourite Stockland retailers. Learn about the history of their business, the products and services they offer and what they love about their local community.

 

 

Meet Glenda, Angliss Meats

 

1. Tell us about your store?

Angliss Meats Stockland Townsville, opened in 2012.  We stock a large range of quality Australian  pork, chicken, lamb, beef products along with goat, crocodile and rabbit. We also have a large crumbed selection, gourmet sausages, plus gourmet pastry products and easy to cook meal ideas.  We supply to our customers a range of both Grain Fed and Grass fed products.

 

2. What products/services do you offer?

We are more than happy to cut our customers whole rumps, rib fillets, steak/roasts to size.  We also marinate, dice or crumb specific meats customers require.  We offer a large range of Gluten Free products and also pack and cryovac meat for when customers are travelling or going away camping.  Staff are also more than happy to give cooking tips.

 

3. What feedback do you get back from your customers? 

Customers love that they can get quality meat at an affordable price and have it packed as requested.  They love our great range of gourmet products and always comment on the happy and helpful staff, the friendly vibe in our shop and our colourful shirts!

 

4. With regard to your store type, what are customers wanting right now?

At the moment a lot of products for slow cookers and smokers have been a big hit (beef ribs, brisket, baby back ribs)  However, goat is our quickest selling product.

 

5. With regard to your store type, what new trends are you seeing?

With so many cooking shows currently on TV, we find that a this inspires a lot of our customers to try new recipes, cuisines  and cooking trends.  We have also had an increased interest of “ready seasoned/marinated” boneless roasts.

 

6. What is your current role and main responsibilities?

I am the North Queensland Manager of Angliss Meats stores in Townsville,  as well as Manager of the Stockland Townsville store.  My main responsibilities include, day to day managing of the store, stock control, customer service, shop presentation, cleaning, cutting, crumbing and packing of products.  Making Gourmet products for quick easy meals for customers is something I also do and enjoy.

 

7. What do you love most about your job?

I love the fact that I can go to work, have a laugh and a joke whilst working with great staff, supply products and cooking tips to customers, serving my regular customers (especially those with a sense of humour or a joke).  Some of these customers I have known for more than 19 years!

 

8. What motivates you?

Physical work, challenges and the fact that I love my job motivates me! Whether its ensuring we have enough meat to supply our customers through flood, cyclone and this year Covid-19.  Cutting and packing large wholesale orders for the Defense Force, Nursing homes etc. Serving and having a chat to customers (especially my regular ones) or just solving problems that arise throughout the day. These things plus the fact that I still love doing this job and being in this industry after 20 years! That’s my motivation!
