May The 4th Be With You!
For those who haven’t been able to sense the disturbance in the force, Star Wars Day is approaching once again. Each year, May the 4th marks International Star Wars Day: a day of celebration, binge-watching all the films and revelling in a galaxy far, far away. For those who aren’t fans of George Lucas’ classic sci-fi films, the date of Star Wars Day is a pun on the films most famous phrase “May the force be with you”.
There’s a magnitude of different ways to celebrate Star Wars Day. Whether you’re planning on spouting your favourite quotes from the films at co-workers or reenacting the epic lightsaber battle between Anakin and Vader, here’s our top 5 ways to celebrate May the Forth this year.
Watch The Movies (Again)
While you may not be able to spend the 20 hours and 10 minutes it would take to watch all the films in chronological order from The Phantom Menace through to The Last Jedi, scheduling in at least a few of the films is a great way to inject a little bit of Star Wars into your day. Consider a mini-marathon of Rogue One and A New Hope, watching the original trilogy or maybe following Rey through The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. If you’ve only got time to fit in one film this May the Forth, we recommend Revenge of the Sith in preparation for the release of Solo: A Star Wars story in late May this year. The new film, which follows a young Han Solo, takes place after Revenge of the Sith and the rise of the empire and before Rogue One. You can even mix in some cartoons too. The highly acclaimed The Clone Wars and Rebels are definitely worth binge-watching.

Read the Books and Comics
Along with the animated TV series, there are countless behind-the-scenes books, novels and comics you can feast your eyes on to get a deeper look into the Star Wars universe. Use Star Wars Day as an excuse to catch up on your inter-galactic reading list. Whether you’re keen to learn more about the enigmatic world of Canto Bight or take a deeper look at the iconic characters that are famous from Hoth to Tatooine. Think you can’t get through them all? As Vader himself once said, “I find your lack of faith disturbing.”

Eat your Way Through the Empire
While you’re re-watching the films and catching up on some reading, toast to the saga with themed beverages and snacks. Start with Aunt Beru’s blue Bantha milk and bake some Qui-Gon Jinn-ger snaps to share with your troop. Pinterest is full of snack ideas to munch on for May the Forth. Just like Christmas, make food an essential part of the holiday. You can even drink out of a C3PO tiki cup, sip your tea from BB-8 or grab popcorn from a Chewbacca bowl to really get you in the mood.

Share It With A Young Padawan
May the forth is the perfect day to introduce a younger sibling, family member or friend to the Star Wars Universe. If they’re too young for the movies, share a book about Chewy and the irrefutably adorable Porgs, or cuddle up with a fluffy Yoda. As Master Yoda once said “Always pass on what you have learned.” It’s also a great time to go through your collection of old toys and lego and donate anything you don't need to charity. That way, May the 4th can be memorable for a child in need too.

Get Dressed Up
While it might not be practical to go to work in a full Stormtrooper costume, there’s no better day to don Star Wars licensed clothing than the 4th of May. Dress up the little ones in Darth Vader polos and Chewbacca slippers to enhance their experience. For those who prefer subtle, a simple cap may be enough to show your support for the Rebel Alliance. If the force is strong with you, find ways to dress as your favourite character using items that are already in your wardrobe.
